When the system fails
Every gain counted in station 09 needs a system that keeps working. When one fails, the cost lands at the nearest door.
Scope of work
When heavy rain fills the sewer, the street gets back what you flushed.
PLATE 10A
Rain is the test. A sewer that carries storm water and sewage fills fast, and the overflow has to go somewhere. It lifts the covers off manholes and comes up in the street, at the height of a ground floor.
Failure is quieter than that, too. A shared toilet with no light, a long walk, a latch that does not hold at night: the block is still standing and people stop using it. The risk falls hardest on women and girls. A lamp, an attendant and a door that closes change who can go.

Method statement · illustrative
SafeStop
A public toilet that is staffed, lit and paid for can stay open after dark.
- An attendant is on site, and the door closes and locks from the inside.
- A small fee pays for cleaning, and a free pass covers anyone who cannot pay.
- Women and girls choose where the block goes.
