The last second
Everything past the wall is plumbing nobody shows you. This station follows the pipe to the plant at the other end.
Scope of work
You flush, the bowl clears, and the waste keeps travelling without you.
PLATE 01A
The drain stops at the wall of the house. From there a pipe carries the waste under the street, and that pipe joins a larger one. Gravity does the work, and the pipe slopes the whole way toward the plant.
Hours later the load reaches a treatment plant that splits water from solids. The plant cleans the water and returns it to a river. Solids settle out as sludge, and the sludge still has to be taken somewhere.
